Shutting Off the Engine During Driving Emergencies
How to use the emergency engine shut-off while driving

- If an emergency situation arises, such as a fire or brake failure, you can not drive normally. In this case, immediately stop the engine and pull over to a safe place.
- There are two ways to turn off the engine in an emergency:
○ Press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 2 seconds.
○ Press the ENGINE START/STOP button 3 times within 3 seconds. - Electric vehicles can be turned off in an emergency in the same way.
Cautions
- Use the emergency engine shut-off only in emergencies. It may lead to dangerous results.
- In case of sudden engine shutdown, maintain continuous pressure on the brake and avoid multiple stepping.
- Using the electronic parking brake for emergency braking will trigger a warning sound and the brake warning light on the instrument panel to illuminate. Also, the braking distance may be longer than normal.
- If the engine turns off while driving, coast to a safe place considering the risk of a secondary accident.
